As part of the transformation of the new Gellerup area Helheden outside Aarhus, a new housing block is being constructed. The construction project, which goes by the name of Solhverv (Solstice), will consist of apartments especially for young people. All the apartments will be furnished with prefabricated bathrooms from Green Box.

A new attractive district

The Gellerup area has undergone a radical transformation in recent years. The transformation is based on a holistic master plan aimed at developing the area into an attractive district in Aarhus, using both existing dwellings and new builds in the area.

One of the new initiatives in the district is the Solhverv block construction project, which will contain 141 units of one to three-room apartments of varying sizes. The new construction project is especially aimed at young people. There has consequently been special focus on communal facilities and community-building opportunities which contribute to making the new homes particularly attractive to young people.

The top floor contains the communal functions for the residents of the property, while the ground floor has a number of joint facilities, including living room, kitchen and workshop. The apartments themselves are furnished with prefabricated bathrooms from Green Box, tailored for the construction project.

Focus on sutainability and quality

Green Box bathrooms are built in materials that have as little impact on the environment as possible. The finished bathrooms therefore have a low environmental impact and only emit approx. 3 kg CO2/m2/year (LCA) as a standard.

The small environmental footprint is a contributing factor to Green Box bathrooms having been chosen for the apartments in Solhverv. There is focus on sustainability in the new construction project, which will be certified in the DGNB Gold category when the block has been completed at the end of 2025.
