NEW SONDERVANG NURSING CENTRE

New sondervang is a new nursing centre in Frederiksberg, expanding the municipality’s existing nursing care facilities with 105 housing units and 24 special needs dwellings. Entasis has designed the new centre, which will help boost the area with green outdoor areas and a vibrant urban environment.

FOCUS ON HOMELINESS AND SECURITY

Frederiksberg Municipality is the developer behind New Sondervang, designed by Entasis.

The firm of architects’ work has been based on a wish to establish a homely urban nursing centre with focus on creating synergy between the centre’s residents and staff. In this connection, the interior design and furnishings have been thoroughly designed to contribute to a secure and comfortable everyday life for residents and staff.

FUNCTIONALITY AND AESTHETICS GO HAND IN HAND

In addition to functionality and adaptability, the interior design of New Sondervang pays attention to aesthetics in the choice of colours and materials.

This also applies to the prefabricated bathrooms from Green Box, which are delivered to New Sondervang in four different variants. Wall and floor tiles in warm colours are a common feature of the bathrooms, which contributes to emphasising an atmosphere of security and well-being.

All bathrooms are furnished with user-friendly fixtures and fittings from Pressalit, among other suppliers, which can easily and quickly be adapted to the individual user’s needs. The bathrooms are delivered prefabricated and hoisted into place before the building shell structure is closed off.

AN ACTIVE HOUSE WITH A STRONG COMMUNITY

New Sondervang will be an active house with a strong community. In addition to the nursing centre and special needs dwellings, the new centre will also house a Climate School, which is already located on the site.

Each institution will be located in its own building, connected by an intermediate building. With this structural approach, the architecture contributes to creating both coherence and independence in the buildings and for the individual institutions’ residents and users.

The location of the individual buildings in relation to each other and the way in which they are connected by means of intermediate buildings help create a welcoming and homely atmosphere. An impression that is underlined on the exterior of the buildings by a choice of materials that include larch wood and bricks in red and golden tones.

New Sondervang nursing centre is expected to be ready for occupancy in 2025.
